The origins of Hong Kong cuisine date back to the early colonial British rule when immigrants, mainly from the province of Canton, came in droves to the thriving city of Hong Kong to trade with the western merchants. Over generations, this exchange of goods and culture between the East and the West gave rise to new cultural identities, one of which we recognize today as contemporary Hong Kong cuisine.

Reputed to be a "Gourmet Paradise", it is the decorous consideration of the flavour, texture and presentation of each dish that has elevated Hong Kong's cuisine to an art form and has propelled it into the ranks of other internationally acclaimed and prominent cuisines.
