Coming as the first Windows Mobile Treo available outside the US, Palm has today announced the Treo 750v, set for launch across Europe with Vodafone. While also the first Treo without an external antenna, the 750v shares a very similar feature set to the 700w and 700wx already available in the United States.
The Palm Treo 750v will ship with Windows Mobile 5.0, including the Messaging and Security Feature Pack and certain Palm UI enhancements. The new Treo is a quad band GSM device, but as another first for Palm, also sports tri band (850/1900/2100MHz) UMTS connectivity - making it a likely candidate for launch in the US as well. Palm has also confirmed that the Treo 750v will be software upgradable to support Vodafone's HSDPA network.
Specification wise, the Treo 750v includes a 240x240 pixel resolution touch screen, miniSD memory expansion, and a 1.3 megapixel camera. The Palm Treo 750v is compatible with Vodafone's Business Email service, as well as Microsoft's Direct Push technology. On the software front, all the regular Windows Mobile applications are integrated, including mobile versions of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and Palm has included a new version of its SMS/MMS application, allowing a threaded view of messages.
The new Palm Treo 750v will be available first to Vodafone customers in Austria, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, Spain, Switzerland, and the UK, with Vodafone planning to launch the handset in other regions by the end of the calendar year.
