The more affordable of the two Walkman branded phones that Sony Ericsson announced today is the W610. This quad-band GSM/EDGE handset will be available some time in the second quarter of this year. It features the easy to use Walkman 2.0 music player application and is capable of up to 25 hours of continuous playback from a full battery charge. The battery should be good for up to 7 hours of talk time, as well.

Other multimedia highlights include the TrackID music identification application, a 2 megapixel autofocus camera, Picture Blogging support, a built-in FM radio with RDS support, and a Memory Stick Micro (M2) memory card slot. A 512MB card is included in the box, which should provide enough storage for about 470 tracks transferred over from the included Disc2Phone PC software. Also worth mentioning is the Bluetooth 2.0 system's support for the A2DP stereo profile, and the VideoDJ and PhotoDJ applications that let the W610 user easily edit their photos and video recordings.

The W610 should be available in two color schemes when it ships later this year: plush orange and satin black. No information as to which markets the W610 will be offered in, nor the phone's price, was given.
